Sample Practice

We are multi-dimensional beings and we need a multi-dimensional practice to meet our needs, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Yoga offers this.  I often wonder what the world would be like if everyone learned yoga and meditation as children.

In my classes: whether you are a beginner or seasoned yogi, you’ll find a lovely space in which you can deepen your practice and draw in movement that will nourish personal growth and wellness. Each class contains multiple levels of capability that offer the freedom to pick and choose what best suits you and your body at that moment in time.

You will discover increased strength, open-heartedness, and clarity that enhances your radiant nature and uncovers what is possible not only on the mat, but in life beyond the session. You’re supported by a teaching style focused on slow, deliberate strength; fluid, nutritious movement; playful exploration; soulful inner reflection and conscious, steady breathing.

My perspective and teachings are influenced by alignment-based, heart-centered yoga, pilates, dance, pranayama, meditation, creativity, western fitness, strength building, inner wild child, and life experiences. You’ll find fluid, rhythmic, dynamic movement that thoughtfully blends breath-centered flow with attention to alignment, inspired sequencing, and purposeful moments of pause and reflection.

Classes are thoughtfully designed to be accessible and potent and most practices are taught at a mixed level and modifications are a standard part of each class. These offerings are born from 30 years of study and the wisdom, generosity, and guidance of all of my teachers and mentors, as well as my continued dedication to providing movement as medicine for all.

About Marsha

Little dancing feet were sewn into the fabric of my soul when I arrived here on earth.

My love story with movement began at a very young age. My mom would constantly say “You must have ants in your pants”. I liked to wiggle, move, spin, jump, and freely dance for as long as I remember. My mother decided it would help all of us if I had a way to channel or harness this extra energy, so she enrolled me in dance lessons at age 5. I continued to drive her crazy but at least I had some structure in my movements… Shuffle Ball Change… Shuffle Ball Change… tap dancing in the aisle at the grocery story. “Can you please be still for a little while?” my mother would beg…

My mother loved to dance, music filled our house. She would invite the neighbor ladies over to exercise to Jack LaLane together! These things obviously made an impression on me or are in my DNA. Movement has always made me feel alive. I was a dancer and my dream was to head off to Broadway after college. But that dream fizzled when I tore a hamstring…. I changed my major to Communications & Broadcasting and kept the movement in my life through the world of fitness. Aerobic Dance in the 80’s , Personal Training in the early 90’s and then along came yoga… and I was smitten. I was also “damaged goods”, as western fitness had taken a toll on my body. I was struggling with sciatica, knee pain, shoulder pain…etc… I felt like humpty-dumpty and yoga helped to put me back together again.

A new love affair began once I realized the benefits of yoga.

Life is a balance between rest and movement - Rajneesh

"True yoga is not about the shape of your body, but the shape of your life. Yoga is not to be performed; yoga is to be lived. yoga doesn't care about the person you are becoming. Yoga is designed for a vast and profound purpose, and for it to be truly called yoga, its essence must be embodied."
