R.i.s.e Up

Method of Living and Teaching

The methodology of this Immersion and teacher training program is simple.

R.I.S.E Up is the systematic approach created by Marsha Nieland to help you tap into your highest potential on and off the yoga mat.

R= Reconnect

to your truth, to your heart, to Source through the ancient yoga teachings and modern science discoveries.

I= Integrate

what you learn into your life and teaching. The way you walk through your life each day will change for the better;  increased awareness, heightened sense of gratitude, empowerment and peace.

S= Share

make a positive impact in the world when you develop and expand your personal yoga practice and learn how to share that with others; students, family, friends.

E= Elevate

your energy and your life with “Vibe Training”. Establish daily practices that will  enhance your mental focus, clarity, mood, and energy level.

R.i.s.e. Up Living and teaching method

Part one

Begins January, 2025

Part 1: Heart Centered Living Immersion

This program begins with a 3 month immersion deeply focused on increasing self-awareness, confidence, empowerment and overall health and well-being.

Pranayama and meditation will be woven into the training to help you establish a practice of self-inquiry in order to release mental, emotional, or energetic patterns that no longer serve you.

Learning this life changing yoga philosophy will help you to understand yourself on a deeper level and will benefit all your relationships and interactions with others. This is a prerequisite for The Art and Skill of Teaching but can be taken without going on to the teacher training.

Part 2: The Art & Skill of Teaching Yoga

What you will learn from this training

  • Alignment, technique and anatomy of the essential yoga postures.
  • Philosophy: will be discussed, and then woven into your yoga, meditation, and pranayama practices to give it purpose and direct application. This means you won’t just be learning nice ideas but will embody them and implement them.
  • Sequencing: First you will be given a sequence, one segment at a time. Once you are comfortable leading the sequence, you will learn how to create your own, following a simple structure that allows you room for creativity while resting upon a solid foundation that you have already built. You will learn how to intelligently sequence from the understanding of anatomy that you gain throughout this training.
  • Teaching Techniques: include a layered, step-by-step, repetitive development of skill sets throughout the training.
  • Visual Demonstration: Learn how to provide visual demonstrations to help visual learners understand proper biomechanics or apply a specific technique for a posture or transition.
  • Practice: Throughout the course, you will be learning and integrating through personal practice, repetition, and review of each topic within the training.
  • Core Takeaway Reviews: Each section of this training contains “Core Takeaway Reviews”, which include questions to help you reflect on and fully solidify the information in your body, heart, and mind

Other topics:

  • How to keep your teaching fresh
  • How to teach people, not poses
  • How to lead from your heart and connect to the students’ hearts
  • Your “Why” for teaching
  • 7 Spiritual laws of yoga
  • The Nervous system: how our sequencing, voice, pacing, and music choices affect the students’ experience.
